| Jennifer Collier |
 |
Jennifer Collier is an innovative
textiles and crafts artist who
uses a combination of natural
and found materials. |
 |
Through methods of weaving,
waxing, bonding, fusing,
trapping, embedding and
stitching she creates unusual
materials, which are then
developed into garments and
accessories. |
 |
She often utilises plastics, papers
and fabrics into her pieces of work
which gives them a new dimension
and communicates ideas about
recycling, as well as themes exploring
the body. |
|
| Jennifer finds inspiration through literature, with a poem or a single quote providing her with ideas. Much of the work, such as the dresses and shoes, are non-functional and aims to encourage people to speculate on the nature of value. |
 |
| Jennifer, who previously taught at Stafford College, has worked for many years with both teachers and pupils bringing her experimental textile techniques to schools. She is now based at Unit Twelve which her workshop and gallery space in Staffordshire. |
